A prominent technology expert and stalwart of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Biodun Ogundipe, has emerged as the party’s governorship candidate for Ogun State ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
The outcome of the party primary was announced in Abeokuta by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr. Adeniyi Adams, who confirmed that Ogundipe secured the highest number of votes cast during the exercise.
According to the official results, Dr. Biodun Collins Ogundipe polled 9,370 votes to defeat Otunba Jimi Lawal, who garnered 6,812 votes, while Mrs. Marie Odusina recorded 2,349 votes.
Addressing party members and supporters shortly after his emergence, Ogundipe promised to foster unity within the party, noting that every stakeholder remains relevant to the growth and success of the ADC in Ogun State.
He appealed to residents of the state and party loyalists to rally behind his ambition, stressing the need for a new direction capable of transforming Ogun economically and socially through people-focused governance.
The ADC candidate said Ogun State is richly endowed with untapped opportunities that can be harnessed to stimulate economic growth, create employment for youths, and improve the welfare of residents across the state.
Ogundipe further expressed confidence in his preparedness to lead the state, maintaining that he possesses the vision and competence required to tackle the developmental challenges facing Ogun.
He also took a swipe at the current administration, arguing that the people deserve improved governance, better infrastructure, stronger economic policies, and leadership that prioritises inclusiveness and citizens’ welfare.
The governorship hopeful assured supporters that his administration, if elected, would prioritise innovation, economic expansion, job creation, and peaceful coexistence among residents.
Party faithful at the event described his emergence as a positive development for the ADC, expressing optimism that Ogundipe’s leadership qualities and professional background would reposition the party ahead of the election.
