Police Authority Sends Abba Kyari to NDLEA, Call for Prosecution of all Officers involved

The police authority have arrested the alleged super cop, DCP Abba Kyari and four other members of his team involved in the criminal conspiracy, discreditable, unethical, and unprofessional conduct, official corruption and tampering with exhibits in a case of illicit drug trafficking of international drug cartels.

Kyari, the head of Intelligence Response Team (IRT) at the Force Intelligence Bureau of the Nigerian Police Force, was declared wanted less than 24hours by the National Drug and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for his alleged involvement in some shady deals by some drug cartels.

The self-styled super cop is also wanted by FBI since July last year over his financial dealing with an international internet fraudster popularly known as Hushpopi. Though,he was investigated by the Police Service Commission since August, but recent revelations have put his image and reputation to further test.

In a release signed by the new Force spokeman, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the IGP Ordered immediate transfer of the case to NDLEA, charged NDLEA to Investigate indicted officers of the Agency.

The alleged super cop and his team were described in a release signed by NDLEA spokema, Femi Babafemi as a law enforcement agents who should be partners in the pursuit of the President’s mandate are at the forefront of breaking the law, as they aid and abet drug trafficking in the country.

NDLEA also said despite President Muhammadu Buhari’s resolve to strengthen the NDLEA and the subsequent launch of offensive action by the Agency to clean the society of the menace of drug abuse,it’s unfortunate that Nigeria’s drug problem was getting close to epidemic proportion.


Kyari was declared wanted as NDLEA rolled out to press men trove of intelligence, hard facts, from chats to photos and video and a detailed transcript of the communication between him and the NDLEA officer.


Though,it was reported that the suspect was invited for questioning since last week Friday,but he refused to show up.
However,as the police authority released the super cop and four of his team to NDLEA,the IGP charged the agency to bring to justice his men who are also involved with the trans border narcotic business at the airport and other entrance since February 2021.

The Inspector General of Police has assured the public of his administration’s commitment to upholding the tenets and values of policing in line with the agenda of ethical regeneration, restoration of professional standard, enhancement of the anti-corruption drive, respect for the rule of law and inter-agency collaboration in the drive to stabilise the internal security order of the country.
