In preparation for the 2023 general election, the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) and Human Rights and Grassroots Development Society (HRGDS) have set to engage and scrutinize the manifestoes of the Governorship candidates in the forthcoming 2023 general Election in Ogun State.
This was contained in a release jointly signed by the state CDHR chairman Mustapha Tiamiyu, and HRGDS secretary, Joel- Taiwo Funmilayo made available to news men yesterday in Abeokuta the state capital.
It will be recalled that the organizations in similar vein engaged the party candidates prior to 2015 and 2019 Governorship Elections in the state.
The release stated that the theme for the engagement is “Electorates’ Conversation with Ogun Governorship Candidates;Your Manifestos”.
The group made it known that the objectives shall include,” To acquaint the Ogun State electorates with the candidate’s manifestoes, aimed at guiding them in the decision-making process of their choice at the poll. Also, to scrutinize the candidates’ manifestoes, especially on how they intend to address the many challenges confronting the state and Nigeria at large, particularly as it concerns Security, Economy, Education, Health,Rule of Law among others.”
The organizers have appointed Comrade Yinka Folarin of the CDHR as the Chairman, Ogun 2023 Political Conversation / Debate Organizing Committee.
Other members of the Committee are Comrade Shoyombo Sunday, Immediate Past Chairman of Ogun State CDHR , and Comrade Ali Adesina and Comrade Onifade Fumbi.
