Some armed hoodlums numbering about seven attacked members of a Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, at Omun Pepe who had just rounded off their vigil at the weekend.
The hoodlums who were shooting sporadically in an attempt to force their entrance into the Church, unfortunately, hit the officiating Pastor Kayode Oluwakemi on his chest and he died on the spot.
According to the police Public Relation Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, the police and other security agents including vigilantes, hunters, and SO-SAFE Corps personnel mobilized to the scene and confronted the hoodlums.
In the ensuing gun duel, the hoodlums abandoned the church members they had kidnapped and took to their heels.
The police reported that one of the hoodlums was neutralized in the process, while others escaped with bullet wounds.
The corpse of the yet-to-be-identified neutralized suspected kidnapper has been deposited at the Morgue in Owode EGBA General Hospital.
Meanwhile, the police with other security agencies are combing the surrounding bushes to arrest the fleeing kidnappers.
