A prominent member of Nigeria Union of Mine Workers, Mr Oladipo Bamgbose-McGanny escaped death at the weekend when his bisexual status was exposed.
The businessman and communication expert who also dubbed as an Executive Consultant to the Executive with bisexual status was nearly lynched to death when some angry youth visited his resident at Quarry Area of Abeokuta, Ogun state.
A source close to the family said, the wife was ignorant of her husband status until recently when it became public, but she had stood behind him, supporting his right of privacy and bisexual status.
Our correspondent, who visited the NUMW Secretariat at Arinlese area off Saje in Abeokuta, said members were reluctant to speak on the matter.
The chairman of NUMN, Alhaji Abiola Fasiu, said the Union has no hand in the alleged attempt to Bamgbose-McGanny’s life bit he suspect the enemies of the union, though the alleged crime of homosexuality is punishable offence by the law of the land.
He added that the case is under investigation by the police but, meanwhile, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp(NSCDC) is looking into the matter, the chairman, assuring the public and members to remain calm.
As at the time of publishing this report, the whereabout of Mr Bamgbose-McGanny is unknown as his mobile line was switched off and messages were not replied.
