…celebrates 5 years anniversary with material support to Leper’s Colony in Abeokuta
A humanitarian group, Youth Initiative Forum(YIF) has called on the people to show love and support to one another especially the less privileged in our society.
This was made known yesterday by the group leader, Comrade Karim Opeyemi Tajudeen in Abeokuta during their visit to leper’s settlement at Elega. During the visit, the group gave Clothings and other materials to members of the leper’s colony.
Comrade Tajudeen said if we can show love and support to one another, it will reduce the level of poverty and crime in our society.
He added that the mission of the group is to provide basic needs of less privilege especially putting food on their table, and providing clothing for them.
Seeking for financial support from the public, Comrade Tajudeen said,” we fund this project by our individual contributions, we need support of individuals, corporate organizations and major stakeholders for us to be able to reach out to more people. We have agricultural programs to support households, small scare business training and monitoring, loan with little interest, health care services, social empowerment, skill acquisition, scholarship for students, sport development, etc. We can not do it alone, we need the support of everyone to make this dream a reality.”
The group who will be celebrating their 5th year anniversary by 16th of December 2023, said it will be a week event with various activities to reach out to the people.
The group leader said among programs lined up for the event are, medical outreach, rally, giving out food materials at a designated point in Ogun Central that will be announced later.
The secretary of the Leprosy Settlement, Folorunso Lukmon who welcomed the kind gesture of the group said the people were so delighted to receive the group.
He said the group should emphasize more on provision for the children in the center. Mr Lukmon said the government are trying to meet their needs with a stipend of #10,000 each for the 32 people affected with leprosy, but want them to do more with the economic realities of this time.
He called on individuals to support such group in showing love and affection to people that are less privileged in our society.
