Prominent Nigerian politician, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo has congratulated the newly elected president of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
Ambassador Oguntoyinbo, gubernatorial flagbearer of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Ogun State, sent his congratulatory message to His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye who emerged victorious in the presidential election of the Republic of Senegal held on March 24, 2024.
It was a contest that paraded well over five gladiators with the 44-year-old Faye emerging victorious to succeed Ousmane Sanko, a leading opposition figure.
In his congratulatory message, Ambassador Oguntoyinbo noted the peaceful process that characterised the election.
He described this as a testament to the Senegalese people’s strong commitment to democracy, adding that it deserved commendation.
“The peaceful conduct of the election is a clear manifestation of the great affinity of the Senegalese people to democratic governance..
‘On that note, I congratulate them for participating in the process, and also the new president for emerging victorious.
“I hereby wish him a prosperous tenure”.
Ambassador Ajadi noted that at no time had the African region needed good and quality leadership as now, people who would help countries in the region harness their God-given potential and resources.
This he said would mitigate the economic hardship that the people had to contend with.
“It is my prayer that the victory becomes a real turning point for economic renaissance in Senegal.
“It is my prayer therefore for God to steer President-elect Bassirou Diomaye Faye, alright, to take the right decisions in the interest of his countrymen”, Ambassador Ajadi said .
He also added that, all the political gladiators in the polls also deserve a commendation for helping to uphold the nation’s widely admired democratic principles in the course of the elections.
Ambassador Oguntoyinbo advised that all they needed is for them to support the rulership in achieving set targets.
“it behoves on all to now rally support for the upliftment of Senegal.
Once election is over, the next is to support the course of building the nation.
“We are with our Senegalese people as they enter this new phase of their political life”.
