Abeokuta — A new political pressure group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM), has announced its formal inauguration as part of efforts to consolidate grassroots support for the 2027 governorship ambition of Solomon Olamilekan Adeola.

Addressing journalists on Friday, the State Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, described the YPM as a “formidable and result-oriented structure” designed to mobilise voters across Ogun State in favour of Adeola and other APC candidates.

According to Kaka, the inauguration—scheduled for May 3, 2026—will serve as more than a ceremonial launch, but rather a strategic gathering of political stakeholders, youth groups, and grassroots actors committed to shaping the state’s political future.

“The YPM is not a peripheral player. It is a central force with the structure and reach required to influence outcomes decisively,” he said.

The movement, convened by Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde alongside other leaders, is expected to drive coordinated political mobilisation across the state. Kaka added that the group would deploy campaign buses and roll out engagement activities aimed at taking its message directly to communities.

The coordinator reaffirmed the group’s alignment with the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, praising ongoing economic reforms which he said are laying the groundwork for long-term national stability and growth.

At the state level, the group also commended Dapo Abiodun for his administration’s infrastructural and economic initiatives, noting that they provide a foundation for future development.

Kaka further acknowledged the contributions of APC stalwarts, including Olusegun Osoba, for sustaining the progressive political tradition in Ogun State.

Reiterating its political objective, the YPM pledged full mobilisation for the re-election of President Tinubu and declared its commitment to ensuring Adeola emerges as the next governor of the state.

“Senator Adeola’s legislative experience and grassroots connection position him as the clear choice for Ogun State,” Kaka stated.

The inauguration event will also feature the decoration of patrons and matrons, as well as recognition and empowerment of loyal members, signalling what organisers described as a reward-driven structure built on commitment and loyalty.

Prominent leaders of the movement include Hon. Olanrewaju Lookman Yakubu (Deputy State Coordinator), Hon. Kehinde Odeneye (Apex Leader), Hon. Anthony Ayodele (Apex Member), Pa Olayiwola Olutunji (Apex Leader), Mr Olatunji Olojede (Secretary), Mrs Keji Oduneye (Woman Leader), Sheik Ahmed (State Youth Coordinator), and Comrade Akilo Akeem (Public Relations Officer).

Kaka concluded with a message of confidence ahead of the elections, declaring that Ogun State is politically energised and poised for victory at the polls.
