The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission( NERC), has inaugurated it’s Abeokuta forum office to enhance effective service delivery and ensure timely resolution of consumers’ complaints.

The NERC Vice Chairman, Dr Musiliu Oseni while speaking at the event explained that the step was in line with the mandate of the commission of protecting the rights of electricity consumers.He added that it is the easiest way of getting the complaint of consumers resolved.

The Abeokuta Forum office of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, was the 31st inaugurated office by the commission to bring the body closer to the people.The office is located at No.33, 1st Avenue,Ibara Housing Estate,Ibara GRA Abeokuta.

Dr Musiliu Oseni explained that the Abeokuta forum office of the commission was to give room for electricity consumers in Ogun state to channel their complaints in a bid to enjoy quality electricity services.

Dr Oseni told the consumers that the commission is working on various initiatives to ensure improvement in the supply of electricity to Nigerians.

The NERC Vice Chairman, solicited the support of consumers to enable the commission to achieve the desired goals of inaugurating the Abeokuta forum office.

The Regional Head of IBEDC in Ogun State,Dr Ademola Adewunmi said the essence of the forum office is to ensure that the costumers are closer to the service provider,and complaints are resolved on time.
He added that,”the idea is to make sure that customers are satisfied with the services received in collaboration with NERC,and other forum members.With this office, so many issues will be resolved at the IBEDC level.”

In a remark, the Commissioner, Consumers Affairs, NERC, Mrs Aisha Mahmud who noted that it would be impossible to reach out to the people of the state without the office located in Abeokuta, said there was the need for consumers to leverage on the information communication technology, to channel their complaints.

Highpoint of the event was the inauguration of a five member panel drawn from the professional bodies, NGO among others.
