MD FMC ABEOKUTA , PROF OLOMU CALLS FOR PUBLIC SUPPORT OF THE FACILITY

…says the Accident and Emergency Unit is overstretched, and needs new equipments and consumables 

Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu has called on groups, corporate organizations, individuals to look into the pressing needs of the Accident and Emergency unit facilities of the centre.

Prof Musa-Olomu stated this yesterday during the official commissioning of hospital equipment and consumables, donated by  USA BASED PROJECT C.U.R.E, facilitated by Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) held at Muhammad Buhari International Conference Centre, Federal Medical Centre  Idi-Aba Abeokuta,  Ogun state.

The Medical Director called on well meaning Nigerians to support the centre because the Accident and Emergency Unit is in need of Medical equipment and emphasized that, when there are large number of patients, the facility is over stressed.

Prof Musa-Olomu earlier appreciated the JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaaq Oloyede who is a facilitator of the new equipment and consumables donated to the centre for his kind gesture. He described him as a son of the soil who loved to see to effectiveness of the health sector.

He also noted that, the centre can boast of medical facilities across the Local Government Areas of the state. He also highlighted some of his achievements within Five Years as the MD, and added that all the consumables facilitated to the centre cannot be compare with what Prof. Oloyede facilitated. 

In his remarks, the JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaaq Oloyede  emphasized the commitment of the Board in both Education and Health sectors across Nigeria.

Prof Oloyede explained that, “The intervention of the Board in the area of health care delivery is a support to the Government’s efforts aimed at closing the huge Medical infrastructure gap. 

“In order to uplift the faces of the Health care services and Educational institutions in the country, the Board would continue to prune down it expenses through prudent, the adoption of relevant cost-saving technology, and other efficient strategies to free up resources and support the major stakeholders such as the tertiary health and educational institutions through this type of intervention and its flagship programme of NATAP-M Award through which the Board has supported tertiary institutions infrastructure with over a Billion Naira in last Three editions. 

He also stated that all the Federal Hospital have benefited from the Equipment donated by PROJECT C.U.R.E across the Six Geo-Political Zones . 

In his address, the Alake and paramount ruler of Egba Land, Oba Dr Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, represented by Baaroyin of Egba Land,  Chief Layi Labode described Prof. Oloyede as a special representation of Egba Land and thanked him for his kind gesture towards the Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta. 

The former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR who was represented by his wife Chief Mrs. Bola Obasanjo appreciated the JAMB registrar for what he has done for the Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta and implored him to do more. 

The management of the centre also presented an award of excellence to Prof. Oloyede.
