The Ogun State Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Olugbenga Dairo, has commended the State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) for two decades of excellence in traffic management and enforcement.
The Commissioner made the remarks during the agency’s 20th Symposium and 10th Annual Commanders Conference – Themed: “Building Resilient Leadership and Management Models for Traffic Personnel Managers in Ogun State,” held at the Valley View Auditorium, Abeokuta.
The event brought together stakeholders from across the transportation and public safety sectors, which underscored the importance of adaptive leadership amidst an increasingly complex traffic environment.
Engr. Dairo lauded TRACE’s commitment to ensuring safe and orderly road use across the state. “Since its inception, TRACE has set a distinguished standard that positions it as one of the best traffic management agencies in the country,” he noted. He urged the Corps to remain dedicated to service delivery and approach their duties with sincerity of purpose.
In her keynote address, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, who also chairs the Ogun State Road Safety Advisory Council—exalted TRACE for its vital role in safeguarding lives on the roads. She emphasized the need for continuous capacity building and strategic leadership to meet emerging challenges in traffic control.
In his remarks, the Ogun State Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Cabinet and Special Services, Olanrewaju Saka also attested to TRACE’s consistent performance in maintaining road safety and enforcing compliance.
Contributing, The agency’s pioneer Commander, Major Dapo Sunmola (rtd), also praised the leadership of TRACE for sustaining the agency’s vision and operational excellence over the years.
In his response, the TRACE Corps Commandant, Commander Seni Ogunyemi, highlighted the agency’s achievements despite operational challenges. He reaffirmed TRACE’s commitment to upholding core values and acknowledged the current administration’s approval for the recruitment of 1,000 personnel to enhance the agency’s capacity.
Dignitaries present at the event included the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, AIG Olusola Subair (rtd); the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo; the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo; and representatives from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Federal Road Safety Corps.
