ABEOKUTA – The families of Dr. (Mrs.) Yemi Kolapo, the Iya Suna of Egbaland, and retired General Moshood Jimoh of Erin-Ile, Kwara State, celebrated a remarkable milestone on Friday, August 22, 2025, as their children, Faisah Kolapo and Hakeem Jimoh, were joined in a colorful engagement ceremony at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) Marquee, Abeokuta.

The glamorous Owambe celebration was a rich showcase of Yoruba culture, adorned with pageantry, music, and deep religious expressions that underscored the sanctity of the union.

The event drew a distinguished array of dignitaries, including former Ogun State Governors, Chief Olusegun Osoba and Senator Ibikunle Amosun, both of whom radiated joy as they joined in the celebration. Also in attendance was Nigeria’s former High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Ishola, further adding prestige to the gathering.

Among the notable guests were Chief Mrs. Bola Obasanjo, wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who graced the occasion with her warmth and elegance, as well as Segun Showunmi, Convener of the Alternative Movement.

The ceremony blended tradition and spirituality, with prayers and words of wisdom showered upon the couple. Both families urged the young lovers to build their marriage on faith, mutual respect, and the fear of God, assuring them of a prosperous life together.

The celebration was witnessed by a cross-section of society — from senior military officers, politicians, and religious leaders, to Nollywood stars, media professionals, and socialites — all united in joy and festivity.

For Faisah and Hakeem, the engagement marked the dawn of a new journey together, while the Iya Suna’s family expressed gratitude to the esteemed guests for honoring them. The families also looked forward to hosting well-wishers at the Nikkah, scheduled to hold at the same venue on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
