The Abeokuta Polo Club has unveiled plans for the inaugural Abeokuta Polo Festival, a premium celebration of culture, sportsmanship, and community development set to hold on December 21, 2025. The landmark event reinforces the club’s theme, “Abeokuta Polo – Where Tradition Meets Excellence,” and marks a significant milestone in its expanding legacy.
Scheduled to take place at the club grounds in Kobape, along the Abeokuta–Sagamu Expressway, the festival is expected to attract polo enthusiasts, dignitaries, business leaders, and admirers of refined entertainment. More than a sporting showcase, the festival aims to spotlight the rich cultural heritage of Ogun State while positioning Abeokuta as a growing hub for tourism and economic activity.
Speaking ahead of the event, the President of the Abeokuta Polo Club, Dr. Sheriff Adams Abdulrahman, expressed strong optimism about the festival’s long-term impact on the host community.
“This maiden edition represents much more than a sporting event. It is an evening of class, elegance, and world-class hospitality. Beyond the thrills of polo, the festival will open new doors for tourism, commerce, and investment in Kobape–Abeokuta. We are committed to creating an unforgettable experience that will become a yearly attraction for visitors from across Nigeria and beyond,”

The festival’s program will feature electrifying afro and jazz performances, alongside an orchestral rendition of the Ogun State Anthem by the acclaimed Vesta Orchestra Group. The event will be chaired by the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, HRM Oba Michael Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo.
Attendees can look forward to a curated blend of fine dining, entertainment, corporate networking, and cultural displays. Organizers promise a memorable experience that harmonizes tradition with contemporary luxury while deepening community engagement.
