Dr. Abdulateef Adedamola Adesina, popularly known as Asiwaju, has officially declared his intention to contest the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.
Adesina, a former two-term Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), made his ambition known during a courtesy visit to party leaders at the Ifo Local Government Apex leadership meeting held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The meeting was attended by prominent party elders, including Joju Abraham Fadiro, Musibaudeen Adebesin, Aderinsola Adebiyi, and Are Tunde Alabi, who presided over the engagement.
Speaking at the gathering, Adesina commended the leadership for their role in sustaining party unity and growth, while outlining his vision for effective and people-oriented representation. He stressed his commitment to the development of Ifo/Ewekoro, citing his longstanding involvement in party affairs and strong ancestral ties to the constituency.
The aspirant also appealed to party stakeholders to consider zoning the House of Representatives seat to Ifo Local Government, noting that such a move would promote equity and enhance grassroots representation.
In their separate remarks, the Local Government Party Chairman, Olumide Oduwole, and a former member of the House of Representatives for the constituency, Adekunle Adeyemi, commended Adesina for formally presenting his aspiration before the leadership. They described his approach as respectful and his legislative agenda as clear and focused, urging him to remain committed to the goal of quality representation.
Also speaking, Evangelist Makinde, a ward leader and coordinator for the aspirant, appreciated the reception accorded Adesina and his team, noting that continued engagement with stakeholders would strengthen unity within the party.
