PATRONISE AGRO SHOP, OGUN HoS CHARGES CIVIL SERVANTS

Civil servants in Ogun State have been enjoined to patronise the newly launched agro-shop located at Oja-Irorun, so as to enjoy fresh and quality farm produce at affordable prices.

Ogun State Head of Service gave the charge at the official opening of the Ministry of Agriculture’s Agro-shop at the State Secretariat, Abeokuta.

Oja-Irorun is the initiative of the State Ministry of Agriculture located within the State Secretariat to enable civil servants purchase fresh farm produce at cheap prices created since 2014.

The Head of Service described the agro-shop as another symbolic achievement in the service delivery of the Ministry in providing quality and qualitative Agricultural products to the people.

“Oja-Irorun is fast becoming an important market where civil servants buy quality Agricultural products for their domestic uses in the last few years of its establishment. And by opening of this retail shop at the market, it will not only continue to guarantee the civil servants of availability of resh and farm products, it is also an avenue for such products to be available at affordable price with with no less quality”, she said.

She assured that the products being sold at Oja-Irorun and the new agro shop were purchased directly from farmers, maintaining that the the nutritional values of the products would safe civil servants lots of money on medicine.

She appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for sustaining the idea of Oja-Irorun, particularly for civil servants, promising that workers would continue to be more dedicated to duties and excellent service deliveries as important stakeholders in “building our future together”, agenda.

Welcoming guests to the event earlier, Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Adeola Odedina, said the Ministry’s focus for the year was to lay emphasis on nutrition and bio-fortified products, beginning with the workforce.

He added that in line with the agenda of Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration, the agro-shop was meant to be a demonstration centre where people can buy quality products like rice, palm oil, fruits planted and produced in Ogun State at affordable prices.

He also called for individuals to venture into distribution of agro products with assurance of support and necessary linkage from the Ministry of Agriculture, adding that, farmers can also get necessary guidance and consultation at the agro shop which would be opened daily, calling on civil servants to take advantage of it.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed Board Members of Ogun State Agro Services Corporation, in company of the Acting General Manager, Mr. Lanre Adeyinka have paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Agriculture in his office at Oke-Mosan.

The Chairman of the Board, Hon. Sunday Kojeku, who was a formal member of Ogun State House of Assembly expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for appointing them as Board Members of ADC after 17 years.

Responding, Dr. Odedina said Governor Abiodun has appointed men of skill and integrity to coordinate the State’s Agro-Service Corporation who he said would deliver the present administration’s goal of reviving the State’s economy through agriculture.
