The Ogun State Police Command has announced the assumption of duty of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Oluseyi Babaseyi as the new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), following the recent redeployment of senior police spokespersons nationwide.
DSP Babaseyi was appointed by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, and takes over from Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Omolola Odutola, anipr, who has been transferred to the Lagos State Police Command for higher national responsibilities. CSP Odutola leaves behind a strong legacy marked by professionalism, transparency, and a people-oriented approach to policing.
A Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, DSP Babaseyi holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, and a Diploma in Law from Osun State University. He is a distinguished member of the 1st Regular Course of the Nigeria Police Academy, with solid academic and professional grounding in police operations, investigations, administration, and strategic communication.
Throughout his career, DSP Babaseyi has served in various operational, investigative, and administrative roles across divisions and specialised units. He previously functioned as Divisional Crime Officer at Monatan and Kajorepo Divisions, and as Officer-in-Charge of Ilaji and Lagelu Police Posts in Oyo State, where he led criminal investigations, supervised personnel, and coordinated crime-prevention strategies.
His operational experience was further enhanced during a three-year deployment with the Police Mobile Force (22 PMF), where he served as Unit Commander. In 2023, he underwent specialised training at the Nigeria Army School of Special Forces, Buni Yadi, and later led personnel in joint military operations under Operation Hadin Kai across Yobe and Borno States.
In addition to his field experience, DSP Babaseyi brings notable administrative and public relations expertise to his new role. He previously served as Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, and as Secretary to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, contributing significantly to command management, strategic planning, and inter-agency coordination. Until his present appointment, he distinguished himself in media relations and information management within the Ogun State Command.
