The Ogun I Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Onipokia of Ipokia Kingdom, Oba Yisa Olaniyan Adelakun, describing the late monarch as a foremost traditional ruler whose contributions to peace, community development and border security will remain unforgettable.
In a condolence message issued on behalf of the management and officers of the Command, the Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller OO Afeni, extended heartfelt sympathies to the royal family, the Ipokia Traditional Council and the people of Ipokia Kingdom over the monarch’s demise.
According to Afeni, the late traditional ruler was a pillar of peace, a custodian of the kingdom’s rich cultural heritage and a steadfast advocate of communal harmony throughout his reign.
He noted that Oba Adelakun played a significant role in fostering cordial relations between the Nigeria Customs Service and residents of the border community, a partnership that strengthened efforts to enhance border security and promote economic stability in the area.
“We have lost a father, a wise counsellor and a critical stakeholder in our efforts to maintain border security and economic stability in the region,” Afeni said.
He added that the monarch was instrumental in promoting mutual understanding and synergy between the Nigeria Customs Service and the people of Ipokia, stressing that his passing has created a vacuum that would be difficult to fill.
The Customs Area Controller prayed for the repose of the late monarch’s soul and asked God to grant the royal family and the people of Ipokia Kingdom the strength to bear what he described as an irreparable loss.
The Command reaffirmed its condolences to the bereaved family and the entire law-abiding people of Ipokia Kingdom, while paying tribute to the late monarch’s enduring legacy of peace, unity and community service.
