Sequel to the recent redeployment of Area Controllers and Heads of Units by the Ag Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR dsm fnipr psc(+), the Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Ahmadu Bello Shuaibu was redeployed to Ogun 1 Area Command to take over the mantle of leadership from Comptroller Bamidele Makinde fsi mni psc(+), who was redeployed to the Service’s Headquarters, Abuja. Until his redeployment, Shuaibu was the Ag Area Controller of Ogun II Command, in charge of Excise Factories and Free Trade Zones in Ogun State.
During the handing over ceremony at the Command’s Headquarters at Idiroko, Makinde while delivering his handing over speech, congratulated the new Area Controller and wish him a successful tenure in office. He urged officers to redouble their efforts and give the new administration maximum support and cooperation to sustain the performance tempo of the Command. He also solicited the unwavering support of the critical stakeholders for the new Controller.
“May I call on officers to redouble their efforts and give the incoming administration maximum support and cooperation to sustain the performance tempo of the Command. In a similar vein, I wish to solicit the unflinching support of our critical stakeholders for the new Area Controller”.
Speaking further, Makinde stated that, during his 17 months in office, the Command generated the sum of N225,009,835.50 as revenue. He added that, out of the target of N136,532,168.22 set for the Command, the Command had already collected the sum of N127,122,058.00, which is about 91% of the target, 3 months and some days to the end of the year. Makinde also stated that, the Command recorded a total seizure of 1,479 comprising 1,245 rounds of of live Ammunition, 72,989 bags of foreign parboiled Rice of 50kg each (which is an equivalent of 122 Trucks load), 907 bales & 236 sacks of Secondhand clothing, 394 sacks & 2,678 wraps of Cannabis Sativa and 655,400 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (an equivalent of 20 Tankers load), among others, with Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N6,604,107,655.92. He attributed the successes recorded to the enormous support of the Nigeria Customs Service Headquarters, concerted efforts of the gallant officers and Men, and the Command’s robust synergy with the critical stakeholders. He thanked everyone for their maximum cooperation and tolerance while in office.
While addressing the news men at the occasion, Shuaibu thanked the Ag CGC for considering him worthy for the posting and pledged to discharge his duties diligently, and uphold the policy thrust of the CGC. He congratulated his predecessor on his successful tour of duty with laudable achievements. He described him as an articulate and result oriented leader. He vowed to sustain the achievements recorded by the Command under his watch.
Shuaibu also promised to ensure significant increase in seizure and facilitate legitimate trades within the Command’s Area of Responsibility (AoR). “I am a team player, I seek total cooperation of all stakeholders to succeed. We must work together and Nigeria must move forward,” he stated.
The Comptroller of Immigration and other Heads of Security Agencies at the Idiroko Border and, Igolo, Republic of Benin, were in attendance at the event.
