Expect Evenly Distributed Developmental Projects Across Ogun Waterside – Hon. Odunnoiki assures Traditional Council Members

The Executive Chairman, Ogun Waterside Local Government, Abigi Hon. Odunnoiki Adetoye AbduGaniyu has assured all the Traditional Rulers in the Council Area to expect evenly distribution of developmental projects across the board. He made this statement while playing host to all the Ijebu Traditional Council Members from his Local Government extraction who paid him a courtesy visit yesterday in his office at Abigi.

Hon. Odunnoiki then used the medium to appreciate them for the support and cooperation he had received so far since he became the Executive Chairman, while noting that, the support he has been enjoying now is even more than the previous ones he enjoyed before his election. He appealed for more collaborations between his administration and that of the traditional institution as that is the only way to foster ammoneous relationships which hitherto will manifest into enormous developments of our individual society.

The Council Chairman, also appreciated their turnout at the meeting saying that, he felt highly elated for the honour bestowed as well as their usual prayers on him. He demanded for the list of projects from their individual communities which will be included in this year’s appropriation bill adding that, he had given the same tasks to the Honourable Councillors who must have contacted them on the same initiative claiming that this motive is to carry along every stakeholders in the Local Government as regards the roadmap of this present administration’s phases of project executions while promising that, that is going to be the trend throughout his regime.

Speaking earlier on behalf of the Traditional Rulers, their Chairman who is also the Ojotumoro of Abigi, HRM. Oba Olusegun Ogunye congratulated the Executive Chairman for his victory at the poll, he also appreciated him for hosting the last Ijebu Traditional Council’s meeting held recently at the Awujale’s Palace in Ijebu Ode as well as this one in his office saying that, all his efforts since assumptions of office has been beneficial to all and sundry. He then advised him not to derail on his action plans while assuring him that all the Traditional Rulers are solidly behind his government.

Oba Ogunye talked on some gray areas to be looked into by the Chairman which includes but is not limited to the following;

Firstly, he was advised to be a listening leader.

Secondly, he should try to open an office or construct a block to serve as a meeting points for the Traditional Rulers in the Local Government which will be referred to as Obas Complex, because they wanted to be holding their meetings regularly.

Thirdly, the Council should detailed an Administrative Officer who will be documenting and be in charge of their administration.

The Alarige of Arige in Ibiade, HRM Oba Bola Raimi advised that, the Chairman should endeavour to repair the Council’s Grader for the smooth running of government as that will pave ways for the grading/patching as well as tarring of roads across the length and breath of the local government. He added that, the demands of Community differs from one to another and that the he should take time to study each community’s peculiarities and work on them for him to succeed.

The Lenuwa of Ode Omi, HRM. Oba Folailu Osedeku requested for the Local Government’s resuscitation of the old transportation system on their waterways as that was the practice in the past in order to alleviate the suffering of the masses living in the riverine areas as pleaded for the procurement of speeds boats for the economic purposes which will increase the Internally Generated Revenues (IGR) of the local government.

Other Traditional Rulers that spoke at the meeting include, the Oloni of Oni, HRM. Oba AbdulFatai Abidekun Obikoya, Olurokun of Irokun, HRM Oba Olayinka Balogun, Osobia of Imakun Omi, HRM. Oba Salami Kazeem Adesina, and the Elero of Itebu Manuwa, HRM Oba Fedrick Adetutu, who requested from the Chairman, the resuscitation of the old Peace and Security Meeting to improve the security architecture of the Council area, creation of employment opportunities for the teeming youths, making lives more bearable for the people through the provision of dividends of democracy, intensifying on the Environmental Sanitation for the safety of the society.

They also advised him to inspect the site of the ongoing Construction of the Coastal Road from Lagos State to Calabar by the Federal Government as they noted and attested that, the inspection if carried out will avail the Chairman opportunity to have a facility visit as well as guide the Construction Company on what to do to assist those Communities in that axis on the need to link them into the coastal road before they passed the areas.

The Head of Local Government Administration, Elder Odusoga Monsuru Olalekan thanked the Obas for their courtesy visit/meeting with the Chairman which is unprecedented, he assured that all the points raised will be critically looked into and addressed by the government.

The meeting was well attended by the Vice Chairman, Alhaja Ogunlana Olabode, all the Traditional Rulers in the Local Government, the Director, Finance and Supply, Mr. Sodeinde Olanrewaju, Director, General Services and Administration, Mr. Ogunyonwo Olasupo, the Divisional Police Officer in the Council Area, DSP. Sanni Taiwo, and an Administrative Officer (Recorder), Mr. Adedeji Oluwatosin amongst others.
