The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspected ritualist, Monday Ogunniyi, for allegedly abducting a woman, Regina Oladeyo, in the Oja Odan area of the state.
Monday Ogunniyi, a resident of the Okegbala area in Oja Odan, was arrested following a complaint filed by one Oladeyo Idowu, who reported the case at the local police station.
According to the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, officers acted swiftly upon receiving the information and found the victim at the residence of the suspect.
During questioning, Monday Ogunniyi confessed to the abduction but also claimed that he and the complainant, Oladeyo Idowu, were involved in rituals using human remains.
The police discovered a dried human skeleton draped in female clothing near a river in the Afige area of Oja Odan, following the suspect’s confession.
Omolola Odutola noted that the suspect implicated Oladeyo Idowu in the storage and dismemberment of the corpse.
The case is set to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Eleweran for further investigation and likely prosecution.
