The Chief Executive Officer of Pelican Valley Estate, Ambassador Babatunde Adeyemo, has urged Nigerians in the diaspora to leverage modern technology to conduct thorough background checks before committing funds to real estate projects in Nigeria.
Adeyemo gave the advice while addressing members of the Ajorosun Union in Manitoba, Canada, during his visit at the invitation of high-net-worth Nigerians in Manitoba and Ontario. Identifying with the group—made up predominantly of Nigerians of Ibadan origin—the Ogun State-based property developer shared his own Ibadan roots and recounted his journey from journalism into real estate.
Highlighting Pelican Valley Estate’s growth, Adeyemo said the company’s reputation was built on integrity, innovation, and consistent value delivery. He warned, however, that many fraudsters posing as real estate agents still operate in Nigeria, stressing the need for diaspora investors to verify both the companies and individuals behind any property deal. “Do independent, technology-enhanced background checks,” he advised. “Customer reviews are a strong pointer to a brand’s reliability and investment returns.”
