Supreme Court in Abuja has reaffirmed the candidacy of Engr. (Dr) Adewale Adenaike of Social Democratic Party to contest the Senatorial seat of Ogun East.
The landmark pronouncement was made today to end the continuous crisis in the party.
Speaking to Pressmen in Ijebu-Ode, Engr. Adenaike said “I am grateful to God for ensuring that justice was not only done but seen to be done. The legal tussle that was embarked upon by my opponent was an embarrassment to our democracy and an exhibition of inordinate ambition. A waste of resources.”
“Elections are meant to be won at the polls not in the Courts” Adenaike asserted.
We can recall that Otunba Adenaike won the Primary Elections held on the 30th May 2022 after which his opponent, Hon Adewale Sokoya proceeded to the Courts claiming that Otunba Adenaike was disqualified from taking part in the Primaries, a claim that was debunked by the Party.
The lead Judge, Hon. Justice John Okoro and 6 others dismissed Hon Sokoya’s petition for lack of merit.
Otunba Adenaike said, ” I’m extending my hand of fellowship to Sokoya to come on board, let’s close ranks so that our Party, the SDP, can be victorious at the polls. Together We Can and Together We Should”.
