The Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM) has declared its readiness to mobilise two million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The declaration was made during the Ogun East Mega Rally organised by the movement at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, where thousands of supporters, political groups, artisans, market associations and youth organisations from the nine local government areas of the senatorial district converged.
The rally, characterised by supporters dressed in the movement’s yellow, green and blue colours, was part of efforts to strengthen the APC’s grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 elections.
Activities commenced as early as 7:00 a.m. with a solidarity walk involving thousands of supporters. The procession moved from Mobalufon Junction through major parts of Ijebu-Ode to the stadium, accompanied by drummers, cultural groups and motorcycle riders.
Participants used the occasion to express support for Senator Adeola, particularly highlighting his legislative activities and his position as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations.
The rally attracted political leaders, serving legislators and local government chairmen from Ogun East, who reaffirmed their support for Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration and Senator Adeola’s political ambition.
A major highlight of the event was the inauguration of more than 1,100 Artisan Ambassadors drawn from different vocational groups, including tailors, mechanics, carpenters and hairdressers.
The initiative, according to the organisers, is designed to expand the movement’s grassroots mobilisation network across the senatorial district.
Speakers at the gathering also called for continued support for President Tinubu’s economic reform policies and Governor Abiodun’s infrastructure development programmes in Ogun State.
Speaking at the rally, the convener of YPM, Engr. Armstrong Akintunde, described the gathering as part of a broader political mobilisation strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.
He disclosed that similar rallies would be organised in Ogun Central and Ogun West senatorial districts to extend the movement’s activities across the state.
“Today, we are sounding it loud and clear that in Ogun State, it is only APC. We will replicate this rally in Ogun Central and Ogun West soon. This massive support is organic, and it will continue until all our candidates are delivered,” he said.
In his remarks, Senator Adeola expressed appreciation for the turnout, describing the solidarity walk and the massive attendance as encouraging.
He said the gathering had further strengthened his confidence in the political participation of Nigerian youths.
“I came in here and I was marvelled at the sea of heads in solidarity walk for our party, the APC. I hear some of you have been here since 7 a.m. Whatever is making you come this far is a reassurance that my belief in the youth of our country is never misplaced,” Adeola stated.
Also addressing the gathering, Governor Dapo Abiodun, while introducing APC candidates from Ogun East, urged party members to ensure that their support for the party extended across all elective positions.
He maintained that the APC must secure votes at every level of the elections, stressing the need for a united electoral front in support of President Tinubu.
“We have promised our President two million votes, and not a single vote must be lost. After all, there is no opposition in Ogun State,” the governor said.
The Ogun East rally is the first of three mega rallies reportedly planned by YPM across the state’s three senatorial districts as the movement intensifies its political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
