Rallies Public for Landmark December Festival

Fresh off his installation as the Aare Eleshin of Oke-Ona Egba, Abeokuta Polo Club President, Chief Sheriff Abdulrahman Adams, PhD, is leveraging this prestigious recognition to mobilize sports enthusiasts, investors, and the general public for the club’s highly anticipated flagship festival returning this December.

The traditional title of Aare Eleshin—symbolizing courage, discipline, and unwavering service—was conferred upon Dr. Adams by His Royal Majesty, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, CON, Karunwi III, the Osile of Oke-Ona Egba. The installation was a key highlight of the monarch’s 37th Coronation Anniversary, celebrating distinguished leaders who drive societal growth.

Driving Development Through Polo

Under Dr. Adams’ visionary leadership, the Abeokuta Polo Club has evolved into a powerful catalyst for regional growth, actively driving:

Economic & Tourism Growth: Attracting high-profile visitors and investments to Ogun State.

Youth Empowerment: Creating job opportunities and developmental pathways for local youth.

Community Engagement: Uniting diverse stakeholders to foster peace and collaboration.

Following the massive success of its historic Maiden Abeokuta Polo Festival on Sunday, December 21, 2025, the club is officially kicking off preparations for its next flagship festival.

Anticipated to return in late December 2026, this landmark event will officially launch Nigeria’s festive “Detty December” polo calendar.

“This chieftaincy title is an affirmation of our collective mission. We are using this momentum to push the boundaries of what sports can achieve for our community as we prepare to host Nigeria’s premier polo festival this coming December.”said Chief Sheriff Abdulrahman Adams, PhD

Dr. Adams and the Abeokuta Polo Club invite corporate sponsors, polo enthusiasts, and tourists to save the date for a spectacular display of world-class equestrian action, elite networking, and rich cultural heritage.
