Earlier, the incumbent Senator representing Ogun West, Senator Tolu Odebiyi, had claimed that he was the only person in the race for the All Progressives Congress, APC, ticket ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Senator Odebiyi who hails from Iboro town in Ogun West, an ally of former governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun battled without success for a return ticket of the APC.

He got to the venue of the primary around 12:48pm with some of his supporters tailing behind, as he expressed confidence that he would triumph at the primary while speaking with journalists.

Senator Odebiyi revealed that the two other aspirants, Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade and three – time governorship candidate in the state, Prince Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka (GNI) had stepped down days earlier to take up House of Representatives tickets respectively, which directly or indirectly made him the only candidate

It was a dramatic twist when his opponent Senator Adeola arrived with an arousing welcome by a crowd of supporters and loyalists.

As at the time of this report,it is unclear whether Senator Odebiyi will accept defeat and support the winner, or he will seek intervention of party leaders loyal to Senator Amosun.
