Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of families of fallen soldiers who paid the ultimate price in the service of the nation.
The governor gave the assurance during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day parade and wreath-laying ceremony held at the Arcade Ground, Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Governor Abiodun also pledged sustained support for veterans of the Nigerian Army, acknowledging their selfless contributions and sacrifices in defending the country’s sovereignty.
Represented by his deputy, Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the governor said fallen heroes and war veterans deserved enduring honour, stressing that the peace and unity enjoyed across the country were products of their patriotism and bravery.
He noted that the annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day remained a significant platform for recognising the sacrifices of military personnel, even in the face of ongoing security challenges nationwide.
“I commend the gallant officers and men of the Nigerian Army. Your professionalism, discipline and dedication to duty continue to underpin the peace and stability we enjoy in Ogun State and across Nigeria. Your sacrifices are deeply appreciated,” the governor said.
Abiodun also offered prayers for the repose of the souls of departed soldiers and officers, assuring that his administration would continue to prioritise the welfare and wellbeing of the families they left behind.
