Travelers in Ogun State have been implored to be safety and security conscious, by boarding commercial vehicles at registered motor parks to guide against robbery and kidnap.
The Route Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission, Yewa South Local Government, Emmanuel Osungbire gave the advice while addressing newsmen in Ilaro, said due to insecurity across the country, precautionary steps became imperative on the part of everyone, hence the need for travelers to avoid boarding vehicles without number plates, as they form tools in the hand of kidnappers.
“We are all aware that the country is going through the challenge of insecurity. It is important to note that most vehicles and motorcycles being used by these criminals are without number plates. So, passengers travelling from one location to another should always endeavour to board registered vehicle at appropriate motor parks”, he said.
Commandant Osungbire advised motorists to perfect their vehicle documents and have number plates to their vehicles to make it easy to trace and track in case of any eventuality, disclosing that driving vehicles without number plates is an offence.
He enjoined road contractors to hint FRSC and other relevant security agencies while constructing or rehabilitating roads, to provide them with necessary security and create diversion for safety of both motorists and workers on the road, calling for cooperation of the transport unions and traditional rulers.
