In a major move to bolster inter-agency cooperation and streamline security communication, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, hosted a delegation of security and paramilitary public relations officers at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
The strategic courtesy visit was conducted by the Military, Police and Paramilitary Public Relations Officers Forum (MILPOPPROF), Ogun State Chapter, bringing together spokespersons from a broad spectrum of law enforcement and public safety bodies.
A Unified Front for Public Safety
The delegation represented a comprehensive cross-section of Ogun State’s security apparatus, including:
• Nigeria Police Force (NPF)
• Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS)
• National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)
• Federal Fire Service & Ogun State Fire Service
• Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)
• Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)
• Grassroots & Regional Corps: So-Safe Corps, Amotekun Corps, and the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE)
The delegation was led by the Chairman of MILPOPPROF (Ogun Chapter) and Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, anipr.
Speaking on behalf of the forum, DSP Babaseyi expressed deep gratitude to the Commissioner for the audience and highlighted the deep historical significance of the meeting. He noted that the presence of diverse agency representatives underscores a shared commitment to credible security communication, public enlightenment, and building community trust.
Honoring a 20-Year Legacy
The visit served as a homecoming of sorts for CP Ojajuni. DSP Babaseyi recalled the Commissioner’s pioneering role in founding MILPOPPROF in 2005 during his tenure as the Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Command.
Responding to the forum, CP Ojajuni expressed immense pride in the enduring legacy of MILPOPPROF, recalling its origins over two decades ago. The forum was birthed through a collaborative initiative between himself and Major Kingsley Umoh (then of the 9th Brigade, 81 Division) in the wake of the 2005/2006 inter-agency clash at Ojuelegba, Lagos State.
“The central vision was to eliminate inter-agency rivalry, promote mutual trust, and create a platform for effective information sharing and coordinated security communication,” CP Ojajuni reflected.
Addressing the current generation of public relations officers, CP Ojajuni urged them to preserve the forum’s founding ideals while adapting to the fast-paced realities of modern, technology-driven communication.
He emphasized several key pillars for effective security management:
• Unified Messaging: Speaking with one voice to prevent public confusion and misinformation.
• Fact-Based Communication: Remaining strictly professional, factual, and responsive to sustain public confidence in law enforcement.
• Mutual Support: Sharing credible intelligence and supporting sister agencies during joint operations and public briefings.
Members of MILPOPPROF thanked the Commissioner for his mentorship and unwavering dedication to inter-agency synergy, pledging to uphold the forum’s principles to ensure peace and safety across Ogun State.
Reaffirming its mandate, the Ogun State Police Command assured residents of its continued drive to strengthen partnerships with all security stakeholders. The Command urged members of the public to remain calm, stay vigilant, and promptly report credible information to the appropriate security agencies.
