…Prince Bola Ajibola is a global citizen who have lived a fulfilled life
The Crescent University have been described as a citadel of knowledge established on moral and strong values.
This was the submission of Professor Charles Adekoya of the Department of Jurisprudence and International Law, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye Ogun state yesterday at the 17th Founders Day celebration of Crescent University Abeokuta.
Prof Adekoya attested to the institution offering of education guided by Islamic Principles and tenets of spirituality and moral discipline.
He added that ,” This may not be unconnected with the exemplary life of the Proprietor of this institution, His Excellency Judge Bola Ajibola, SAN, who has lived 89 years of worthy, empathic, selfless and frugal life. Indeed, His Excellency is a forthright, detribalised, a non-religious bigot and very distinguished personality who eminently qualify as a Global Citizen in every respect.”
The University Don earlier in his paper presentation, titled “Human Right And Elections” in Commemoration of the 89th birthday of the founder of Crescent University, His Excellency Judge Bola Ajibola, said “There is need to reform our electoral process to make it more democratic, especially on issues of political party primaries and the heavy dependance of the election process on money, to the exclusion of the poor and the not too rich. The current political and electoral space alienates the poor. Also, security on election days should be ensured such that people must be able to cast their votes without intimidation or violence. The high material reward attached to political offices should be reduced and the electoral process liberalised to reduce its heavy dependence on money.
Prof Adekoya lamented that ,” Lack of good governance ,Corruption, Rise in crimes, Endemic Poverty, Absence of the rule of law, are major challenges faced in Nigeria during election period.”
The event also featured the foundation laying of the Bola Ajibola Gallery to immortalize the founder of the prestigious University, which was done by the Royal fathers, Oba (Prof) Saka Matemilola, Otileta VII , Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, Towulade of Akinale, the institution Vice Chancellor Prof Ibrahim Gbajabiamila, children of the founder, Barrister Adesegun Ajibola (SAN), Mrs Modupeola Afikujomi, Mrs Oluwatoyin Awosika, Barrister Zakariyya Ajibola, Mrs Saanu Ajibola and Mr Islam Ajibola.
