The celebration of the Ogun State Head of Service, Alhaja Selimot Olapeju Ottun as the 17th Head of Service by the Ikenne Central Mosque, Ikenne Remo has been described as celebrating the triumph of the girl child education.

This description was given by the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Shuaib Salisu, at a special reception in honour of the Head of Service, Alhaja Selimot Ottun, held at the Muslim College, Ikenne Remo, Ogun State.

According to the Governor, educating the girl child is building the future as exemplified in the Head of Service whose education has brought to the pinnacle of her career in the Ogun State Civil/Public Service.

While saluting Alhaja Ottun’s virtues of perseverance, discipline, commitment, distinction, dedication to duty amongst others as what distinguished and brought her to the exalted position, Prince Abiodun called on all and sundry to make the training of the girl child a priority, especially by rendering help to less privileged parents in the neighbourhood, in order to give the child a future and a hope.

“Alhaja Ottun deserves to be celebrated, this is celebrating the triumph of the girl child education. When you educate a child, you are building the future. Celebrating the importance of the girl child is second to none. She is a role model of womanhood and a thorough bred professional”, Governor Abiodun said.

On his part, the Chief Imam of Ikenne Remo, Fadheelat Sheikh Hussein Kehinde Lawal, in a Lecture, said the reception was organised to give thanks to God for exalting Alhaja Ottun as the first Ikenne Remo daughter to become the number one Civil Servant in the State, as returning to give thanks is a test from God to the Faithful to ascertain whether His doings amongst them are appreciated or not.

He charged the Head of Service to continue to exhibit the good behaviours that brought her thus far in her career and especially, her service to God, as she is the mirror that everyone is looking at.

In their separate goodwill messages, a family member, Bosun Sosanya, representative of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Alhaji Olanrewaju Saka and the women leader, NASFAT, Abeokuta Branch, Alhaja Mujidat Olayemi Salako described Alhaja Ottun as a kind, selfless, accommodating trail blazer whose achievements are unquantifiable both within and without the Civil Service.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Vice Chairman, Ikenne Central Mosque, Barrister AbdulFatai Okunuga said Alhaja Ottun’s appointment was a clear testimony of her unwavering commitment to excellent service delivery and advised her to keep using her good office to foster unity and love amongst the Faithful for the betterment of the society.

Responding, the honouree, the Head of Service, Alhaja Selimot Olapeju Ottun, couldn’t hide her joy as she gave thanks to God for taking her to the position and the organisers for the great honour done her, with a promise to keep putting in her best to achieve maximum results in all her undertakings.

Highlights of the reception, which had the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Body of Directors from the Ogun State Civil Service, muslim women groups amongst others, included offering prayers for the government, state, the head of service and the civil service in general, as well as presentation of the Holy Quran to the honouree.
