In a comic manner, the tragic event that prologue the All People’s Congress primary which the Ogun state governor,Prince Dapo Abiodun was a victim of verbal assault by the APC presidential candidate,Asiwaju Bola Tinubu ,has officially taken as a compliment.
The governor who was in company of other South West APC leaders with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to Ekiti state in build up of the gubernatorial election, was introduced on stage by the state governor, Chief Kayode Fayemi as Eleyi of Ogun state.
Prince Abiodun,who smiled as he received a cheering applause from the crowd saw it as a compliment. Though, the event that led to the governor being referred as “eleyi” was a public insult, but it had turned out to be turning point of reference and the newest slang alongside “emilokan”.
It is noteworthy that the reference to the governor as eleyi which he didn’t take to heart also helped to mend his part with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu when his Remo Brother and Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo lost to the former Lagos state governor.
The coast looks greener for Prince Dapo Abiodun as he had put the past behind moving along with the Tinubu campaign train, and planning how peace will return to the state APC family.
An unconfirmed report has it that the governor ironically refused conditions for the alignment of Senator Ibikunle Amosun and his group.The report has it that the governor Chief of Staff, who won the senatorial ticket for Ogun Central will forfeit it for the former governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
It is obvious that in few days,the APC family will seat at a round table to discuss the best way to resolve the three year old crisis that had taken away peace and unity from once big family. It is uncertain the number of people whose tickets will be used to settle the rift.
