The dusty community of Igbin-Ojo and it’s neighborhood received the lovely team of Green-Iceberg Heritage Foundation on Saturday 27th of November with lots of gift and show of love.
Mrs Titilayo V.Savage Oladipupo, leader and director of the team said giving hope to people in the remote rural areas is the purpose of the foundation.The foundation, reaching out for the third year was full of joy and excitement.
She said,”this is what GHF is known for and we are proud of it.Our goal is to show the love of God to the people,by providing for their basic needs, giving empowerment that can give them a source of living.This is our 3rd edition, and this is special because it’s in honour of my late husband Oladipupo Temitope Afolabi who is the chairman of the foundation.”
The team navigated the villages through Ibese to Aga-Olowo to a dusty and cool village of Egbin-Ojo where all neighbouring communities have gathered to receive the foundation.
The outreach that comprised of medical team conducted malaria text,blood sugar text,and gave medical advices to the people.
Many of the elderly also checked their blood pressure,and provided information on how live a regulated life.
The team also trained the women on how to tie gelle(headgear), which many of them were so happy to learn. The women population also learned how to prepare local beverage (zobo), and soap making.
The purpose of these handcraft, according to Mrs Oladipupo was to create a channel for them to have an income beyond materials provided by the foundation.
The foundation also gave foods and cash gift to the people, while clothes, shoes, school bags, exercise books and other stationeries were shared to the children.
It was observed the the highest population of the people were children and nursing mothers prone to mosquito bites and malaria, the foundation distributed over 30 Mosquito Treated Net(MTN),and instructed them on how to use it.
Pa Akanmu a resident of Igbin-Ojo who expressed gratitude,prayed for the team of GHF, and wished the society can learn from their humanitarian services.
Mr Johnson who came from a neighbouring community said he was glad with the foundation gift,and show of love.”They made us know that we are not forgotten even when we live in a remote community”
