…calls on speedy completion of the Lagos Badagry Express road, and other roads in the constituency
The member of Federal House of Representative, Badagry Constituency Hon. Sesi Whingan, has sympathized with families of last weekend ghastly accident, that occured between a bus and a tipper, at Buhari Estate, Mowo area of Lagos Badagry Expressway.
Hon Whingan has called on the contractor handling the Lagos Badagry Express Road to intensify efforts for speedy completion of the road project.
He also called on the Federal Ministry of Works to see to the deplorable state of roads in the constituency to ease the movement of the people and goods.
Hon Whingan said, “the news of the crash came as a shock to me, with reports indicating a significant loss of life and numerous injuries. This is very disheartening. While it is not the first accident since the reconstruction of the road began years ago, we have witnessed a disturbing frequency of auto crashes, often caused by reckless driving or over speeding. Many of these accidents could have been prevented if the construction of the Lagos Badagry Expressway had been completed promptly.”
He added that, “Prior to this incident, I have been in constant communication with the relevant government authorities and contractors, stressing the urgent need to expedite the reconstruction process. Opening up the Badagry Federal Constituency to development and economic growth has been a key priority.
Little did we know that such a tragic accident would occur. Therefore, I urge the Federal Ministry of Works and the contractors involved to swiftly accelerate the construction of the road and facilitate the reopening of both sides for vehicular movement. I am personally committed to visiting the Federal Ministry of Works and, if possible, meeting with the contractors to emphasize the urgency of this matter. It is crucial to address this issue promptly in order to prevent or minimize the recurrence of such incidents.”
