The Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operations Unit (FOU) A, Ikeja, Ms. Shuaibu, on Tuesday hosted the promoter of the Oko Opo Foundation, Ambassador (Dr.) Babatunde Adeyemo, reaffirming the Service’s readiness to collaborate with the foundation through its Customs Care Scheme.
She noted that the NCS is committed to supporting initiatives that rekindle hope among widows, vulnerable children, and other disadvantaged groups in society.
Comptroller Shuaibu praised the Oko Opo Foundation for its consistent efforts in alleviating the plight of widows and vulnerable children, pledging the NCS’s continued support for its humanitarian programmes.
“We are grateful for what you are doing for us and for aligning with us. We will continue to align with you. We have received your message. We will deliberate on it and revert to you,” she said.
Earlier, Ambassador Adeyemo commended the NCS for its generous support during last year’s Nigeria Customs Care Initiative outreach programme, organised in collaboration with the Oko Opo Foundation. He said the partnership made a significant difference in the lives of beneficiaries.
Adeyemo also reflected gratefully on an incident involving an NCS operative on December 8, 2024, noting that what could have become a tragic encounter ultimately opened the door to a meaningful partnership for the empowerment of widows.
“On behalf of the Oko Opo Widows Foundation, we extend our sincere appreciation to your esteemed organisation for the generous support shown during last year’s outreach programme,” he said. “Your presence and contribution brought great relief and encouragement to beneficiaries, especially in Ogun State.”
He announced that the next empowerment programme for widows, jointly supported by the NCS and the Oko Opo Widows Foundation, is scheduled for December 26, 2025, at Pelican Valley Estate, Laderin, Abeokuta.
“We humbly request your presence at this year’s edition and once again extend our gratitude for your commitment to community development and humanitarian service,” Ambassador Adeyemo added.
