…promised to deliver Ogun for APC presidential candidate, Senator Bola Tinubu
The leadership crisis in All Progressive Congress(APC) in Ogun State is taking a dangerous dimension as the former governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun declared that an opposition party, African Democratic Congress candidate will take over from the ruling APC at the poll.
The two term governor of Ogun State affirmed his position at an interview with BBC Yoruba yesterday, promising to deliver the state for the presidential candidate, Asiwaju Hamed Bola Tinubu come 2023 poll.
Though this did not come as a surprise, since Senator Amosun recently vowed that, he would see to the defeat of the incumbent governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun .
Senator Amosun said, “for the presidential poll, I can assure you, both right, left and centre, we are supporting one person (Bola Tinubu). On the governorship poll, that’s a different ball game. I don’t belong there(APC). Our candidate is Biyi Otegbeye of ADC.”
Observers have noted that the lingering crisis would create an avenue for opposition to take over at the poll.
As much as the sitting governor was closing ranks, building bridges and extending his hand of fellowship to old and young party loyalists, the crack created by who should hold the party structure has torn the ruling party apart at the state level.
Senator Amosun , a two term governor and two term senator whose supporters are in APC, ADC, PDP, APM, and fraction in other political parties should not be underestimated in who takes what at the 2023 general election.
