The African Democratic Congress in Ogun State has inaugurated a four-man screening committee to assess aspirants seeking the party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The committee is expected to screen aspirants vying for positions in the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, and the Senate.
Speaking with journalists, Chairman of the screening committee, Barrister Kehinde Osinowo, said the party remained committed to a transparent and credible process that would produce competent candidates capable of representing the party effectively during the 2027 elections.
Other members of the committee include Akinsanya Abdul Azeez, Joy Nweke, Duru Festus and Nuru Oluwo. Executive members from all local government areas in the state were also present at the exercise.
Osinowo noted that the leadership of the ADC was determined to uphold internal democracy and ensure that only qualified and credible aspirants emerge through the screening process.
Some of the aspirants who participated in the exercise also expressed confidence in the party’s screening mechanism, describing the process as democratic, transparent and encouraging.
The committee further stated that the national leadership of the party would officially announce the outcome of the screening exercise to members and the general public in the interest of transparency and accountability.
It also dismissed allegations of parallel activities within the party, insisting that the Ogun State chapter of the ADC remains united.
