Ward chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun Central Senatorial District have unanimously endorsed Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu Omoyayi for a second term ahead of the party’s senatorial primary election scheduled for May 18, 2026.
The endorsement was announced during a press conference held at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta on Saturday.
Speaking on behalf of the 74 APC ward chairmen in the district, their leader, Alhaji Olayiwola Olaleye, popularly known as Daris, said the decision followed extensive consultations and assessments of the senator’s performance during his first term in office.
The ward chairmen, working in collaboration with the Ogun State Chairman of APC Ward Chairmen, Comrade Matthew Sopade, described Senator Salisu’s representation as impactful, citing his legislative contributions, empowerment programmes, and responsiveness to constituents across Ogun Central.
According to the party leaders, the endorsement reflects the confidence of the grassroots in the senator’s ability to consolidate on his achievements if re-elected.
They also declared Senator Salisu as the consensus candidate of key stakeholders within the party, including Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, leaders of Ogun Central Senatorial District, and APC leaders across the six local government areas in the district.
The local governments include Ifo, Ewekoro, Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Obafemi-Owode, and Odeda.
The APC ward chairmen noted that the consensus arrangement demonstrated unity within the party and reaffirmed widespread support for Senator Salisu’s continued representation of Ogun Central in the National Assembly.
