The New Nigeria People’s Party in Ogun State have expressed displeasure over the inconsistent actions of the electoral umpire on the forthcoming local government election in the state.
The Chairman of the party,Comrade Olaposi Oginni made it known to our correspondent in Ijebu-ode few hours ago that the Election timetable released yesterday did not reflect the true position of the law.
He said,”I expect the Governor to appoint capable hands who are familiar with the Electoral Acts in OGISEC to deliver the expection of the people.
The acclaimed timetable did not give room for the 90 days stipulated by Electoral Acts.
Secondly, the Osibodu led OGISIEC failed to call a Stakeholders Meeting for Political parties to prepare before the election Timetable was released!
It is unacceptable that OGISEC did not carry us(the opposition Parties)along in the process of the Preparation and Conduct of this coming LG Elections.This state is not Gov Dapo Abiodun’s. Company not a one Party state, therefore we don’t expect the governor to keep mute when the People he saddled with responsibilities are performing below expectation after the long delay in conduct of the election”
He called on other stakeholders to stand against ineffective OGISEC,and injustice in the conduct of the election,and call for immediate dissolution of this OSIBODU Led OGSIEC.
