Ogun State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC) have presented first quarter score card for the year 2022 at the weekend with various achievements.
The State Commandant of the Corp, Kolawole Taiwo, said the command have recorded successes in anti-vandal activities.
He said, “we have had recurring vandalism attempts in the past three months. However these repeated attempts were foiled by the men of the Ogun NSCDC Anti-Vandal Squad. Precisely, four (4) of such vandalism attempts were foiled at the following areas and on these dates:
- On the 24th of February, 2022, a stoppage was effected by the men of the Anti-Vandal Squad on a planned illegal vandalism and attacks on the NNPC-Right of Ways (NNPC-ROW) in Otuyelu Tent in Sagamu Local Government Area of the State. The recovered eight (8) sacks of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) was also decanted at the NNPC Depot, Mosimi, Sagamu, Ogun State.
- Also, on the 28th of January, 2022, vandalism activities was also foiled by the Anti-Vandal Team at Konigbagbe axis in Sagamu Local Government Area of the State leading to the arrest of five (5) Sienna Buses with the following number plates:
I. BDG 589-FA,
II. KJA 357-EG,
III. LSR 438-DR,
IV. BDG 196-FN, and
V. KRD 732-BU.
The vehicles were filled with empty jerry cans as exhibits. These vehicles have been referred to the Federal High Court sitting at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, for forfeiture.
- In the same vein, vandalism activity of a bus filled with PMS was foiled at Ogere axis in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the State on March 2, 2022. The details of the exhibits recovered include:
I. Black Kegs of 50 litres (45 filled with PMS);
II. Coloured Kegs of 25 litres (50 filled with PMS); and
III. Black Kegs of 50 litres (11 empty ones).
- The recovered PMS was decanted at the NNPC Depot, Mosimi, Sagamu, Ogun State while bus have been placed for forfeiture at the Federal High Court sitting at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
- Lastly, another vandalism attempt was foiled on March 11, 2022 at the Odugboro axis in Sagamu Local Government Area of the State with no arrest and possible damages were repaired by the Technical team of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mosimi, Sagamu Ogun State.
Commandant Taiwo added that,” application has also been filed for an order of forfeiture and condemnation of the vehicles (5 Trucks and 1 Car for illegal dealing in PMS).

In addition, the Command’s Private Guard Companies also clamped down on five (5) private gurad companies namely:
- Jacob Adetayo Security Enterprises Limited;
- Francoli Consultancy Services;
- Stoba Business Services Limited;
- Uppermost Security Concepts Limited; and
- Emerald Security International Limited.
It recovered the sum of Five Million, Three Hundred and Ten Thousand Naira Only (#5,310,000:00) from the following sources:
- Renewal of companies operating licenses;
- Application for fresh registration of private gurad companies;
- Personal history statement of directors for newly registered PGCs;
- Private Guard Companies State Branch Fees;
- Penalty fines for erring Companies; and
- License Upgrade from categories B to A.

The command also through “The tripartite of Anti-Fraud, Anti-Corruption and Transparency and Peace/Conflict Management Departments” recovered a total of Twenty-Three Million, Five Hundred and Seventy-Five Thousand, Two Hundred and Fifty-Six Naira Only (#23,575,256:00).
From this total sum, the Anti-Fraud recovered a total sum of Nine Million, Three Hundred and Fifty-Five Thousand, Seven Hundred Naira Only (#9,355,700:00) while the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit recovered a total sum of Ten Million, Two Hundred and Nineteen Thousand, Five Hundred and Fifty-Six Naira Only (#10,219,556:00) and the Peace and Conflict Management Unit recovered a total sum of Ten Million Naira Only (#10,000,000:00).
Meanwhile, these were the recovered sum which had been handed over to the complainants while the balances of these debts are still being pursued with discretion by the three units with the agreements of the parties in dispute.
The Commandant also disclosed that, “The Agro-Rangers department, for the quarter under review was able to settle over 35 cases bothering on farmers/herders conflicts across the State. The department is also concluding plans on modalities for two (2) proposed Agro-Based Stations at Ilugun and Ijebu-Igbo Areas of the State to further get inwards to the grassroot people.
The Counter-Terrorist Unit (CTU) was able to rise up to violent matters in the State alongside other security agencies especially on issues of: cult clashes, surveillance and patrol of the metropolis against insurgency and other nefarious acts.
The Anti-Human Trafficking, Irregular Migration and Gender Unit (AHTIM/Gender Unit), for the quarter under review was able to handle nine (9) cases with ten (10) suspects bothering on: child maltreatment, labour, abuse, trafficking, molestation, neglect, abandonment, amongst others.
Currently, one of the State Command’s prime cases from the AHTIM/Gender Unit is the alleged matter on child defilement and multiple rape against one Quadri Dare Oriyomi, a staff of the Nigerian Postal Agency and the matter is still under intense investigations, at various levels, and the suspect would be charged to court at the appropriate time.
The State Command is appropriately doing due diligence on the matter so that the expected merits and other ingredients to prosecute the matter would be properly navigated and put in place.
In a similar development, the Command have assured Ogun State residents of water tight security before, during and after the Easter celebration.
In a release e-signed by the command public relations officer, Dyke Ogbonnaya
said,” considering the various activities during this easter season with its characteristic beehive of events across the globe, the State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command Headquarters, Abeokuta, Commandant Kolawole Taiwo, has declared total war on all hoodlums, miscreants, vandals and perpetrators of crime across Ogun State especially on our Pipelines Right of Way (PROW) and all government, private and public infrastructure across the State.”
Mr Ogbonnaya noted that, “With the recent cult clashes experienced in Ogun State few weeks ago, the command would be teaming up with other agencies to curb any reprisals from all quarters in the State.
The command would deploy massively his intelligent and tactical teams to contain these anomalies alongside other security agencies before, during and after the celebrations.
The Corps Counter-Terrorist Unit, Special Female Sqaud, Rapid Response Squad, the Armed Squad Unit, the Agro-Rangers Team and the newly constituted Operations Mesa in the State would join forces to make the celebration a hitch-free one.”
He added that, “the command would be all out before, during and after this festive seasons especially at all highly populated centres as: markets, critical national assets, correctional centres, worship centres, schools, institutions of higher learnings, hospitals, and a host of other public places across the State to ensure a peaceful celebration is maintained and achieved”.
He also warns personnel of the Corps against any act unworthy of a security officer as such reports would be decisively handled and whoever is involved would be severely dealt with as the Corps, in Ogun State, is not ready to have a bad report from any side in this season of resurrection and newness.
However, he advised all residents to celebrate with all sense of moderation while also advising them to take their security very important, and to also report any happening promptly to any nearby security agency for immediate action.
