In a goodwill message issued on behalf of journalists in the state, the Union described Senator Amosun as a visionary leader whose tenure as governor fundamentally reshaped Ogun State’s architectural outlook and economic direction. His widely acclaimed “Mission to Rebuild” agenda, the NUJ noted, remains a benchmark for infrastructural development and urban renewal in the Gateway State.
The Union emphasized that Senator Amosun’s engagement with the media has always been anchored on mutual respect and a shared commitment to good governance. Throughout his years in public service, he consistently demonstrated an understanding of the media’s critical role in strengthening democracy and promoting accountability.
Recalling his achievements in office, the NUJ highlighted his bold economic policies that significantly boosted Ogun State’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), transforming the state from a fiscally constrained entity into a thriving industrial hub. According to the Union, this legacy of financial independence continues to yield dividends for the state.
Beyond governance, the NUJ praised the Akonni of Owu Kingdom for his compassion and commitment to humanity, noting that his philanthropic interventions and concern for the welfare of the people have remained visible even after leaving executive office.
At the National Assembly, Senator Amosun’s legislative career was marked by robust contributions in areas of national security, economic development, and constituency empowerment. The Union described him as a bridge-builder whose political journey reflects courage, discipline, and an enduring pursuit of excellence.
The Ogun NUJ also commended his resilience, patriotism, and unwavering belief in the Nigerian project, describing him as a dependable partner in progress who consistently maintained open and transparent engagement with the media, even during challenging political moments.
As Senator Amosun celebrates his 68th birthday, the Union offered prayers for renewed strength, sound health, and divine wisdom, urging younger leaders to draw inspiration from his work ethic and his “Ogun Standard” philosophy, which upholds quality, durability, and collective pride.
The NUJ concluded by wishing the former governor a joyous birthday celebration filled with peace, fulfilment, and family warmth, expressing hope that his future years will be even more impactful than the remarkable legacy he has already built.
