The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited, Ambassador Babatunde Adeyemo, has paid glowing tribute to former Ogun State Governor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, on the occasion of his 87th birthday, describing him as an accomplished journalist, visionary leader and elder statesman whose legacy continues to shape development in Ogun State.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Ambassador Babatunde Adeyemo Media Office in Abeokuta, Adeyemo praised Osoba’s outstanding contributions to journalism, governance and grassroots development, saying his leadership has left a lasting imprint on Ogun State and Nigeria.
The renowned real estate entrepreneur and veteran broadcast journalist said Osoba’s commitment to public service remains a benchmark in governance, politics and community development, noting that many of the former governor’s developmental initiatives continue to yield tangible benefits decades after leaving office.
Adeyemo cited Pelican Valley’s flagship Smart City project along the Masa-Kobape corridor in Abeokuta as one of the enduring beneficiaries of Osoba’s administration. According to him, the rural electrification programme initiated by the former governor over two decades ago was a major factor that influenced the company’s decision to establish its technology-driven and eco-friendly estate in the area.
“We will continue to appreciate your enduring legacies in grassroots development across Ogun State during your tenure as governor. Our emerging Smart City on the Masa-Kobape corridor is a direct beneficiary of your rural electrification project, which was one of the major attractions that influenced our decision to site these developments there,” Adeyemo said.
He further revealed that the longest avenue within the estate has been named after Osoba in recognition of his role in extending a 35KVA electricity line to Kobape, describing the project as a transformative intervention that opened up the community for development and investment.
Looking ahead to Nigeria’s future political landscape, Adeyemo expressed confidence that Osoba would continue to provide guidance as one of the country’s most respected progressive leaders.
“As the nation moves closer to another opportunity to elect new leaders, we are confident that, as a progressive-minded politician and respected elder statesman, you will once again deploy your immense wealth of wisdom, experience, courage and foresight to guide the people of Ogun State, the South-West and indeed the nation in making the right choices for leaders who will sustain Nigeria’s progressive trajectory,” he said.
Adeyemo concluded by joining family, friends and admirers in celebrating the former governor’s 87th birthday, praying for continued good health, peace, strength and prosperity for the elder statesman.
