One of the means of getting young people occupied in recent time is discovering their talent in music and playing of musical instruments.
Shade Sax is a known name in the music industry in the city of Abeokuta. She spoke recently with INFOLITE NEWS team on issues on the discovery of such talent.
Can you tell us briefly about yourself?
I am Olatoye Alabi shade. Popularly known as Shade Sax. I am a musician by profession.
You are known in the profession dominated by men. The act of playing saxophone in a unique and impressive way.
How is the journey so far?
To God be the glory. Saxophone is just the major but not only saxophonist..
It all started since 2005
In Lagos one thing led to another and we are where we are today..
As a minister,a mother,and a wife ,how do you balance it?
I will say that is by His Grace, for by strength, I can do nothing. I also want to say that is because I married my own Husband.
You have a music school that you train people on how to play musical instruments,what are the challenges?
Yes! For now our major challenge is the space, we need our own building, I thank God for where we are using now as big as the place is we are still short of space…
What was your happiest moment in this career?
My happiest moment is seeing our students doing well in music industry and in their private performance.
As a music minister, what is your opinion on instrumentalist who request for financial reward before playing instrument at church service or program?
I can’t really make it loud because it depends on your personal relationship with God, the person that invite you and what they invite you for…
What is your advice for parents whose children desire to learn musical instruments?
They should avail their wards to explore, because music is life in this world, and the world to come.If music be the food of love, play on,
