Police apprehends woman for assaulting IBEDC official

The police have arrested a 35-year-Old woman for assault and battery of an official of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) yesterday at Olomore Area of Abeokuta in Ogun state capital.

The victim was assaulted while carrying out his lawful duty around Olomore area.

It was reported that the IBEDC officials got to the building, as they discovered that the meter of the building had burnt and residents connected the source of supply directly, which the team termed Energy Theft. 

The team decided to disconnect the house from the pole after issuing a disconnection order.

The IBEDC official who was attacked climbed the pole to effect the disconnection, and one of the residents climbed after him and dragged him down with the ladder. 

The victim, Mr. Silas fractured his right leg and he was rushed to the hospital.

The case was reported at the Police Station which got the suspect arrested.

The police said the accused will be arraigned tomorrow as preliminary investigation is concluded.

The regional Head of IBEDC Ogun Region Engr. Abdulrasaq Jimoh, appealed to customers to desist from taking laws into their hands, urging the public to report any erring staff to the appropriate authority for sanctioning. 

He further urged customers to continually be law abiding and not see the officials of the company as their enemies, but trained professionals ready to assist and satisfy customers at all time.
