The SixthSense Initiative (tSSI) has been selected to receive the Award of Excellence from the Nigerian Institution of Water Engineers (NIWE), Ogun State Chapter, for its contributions to youth literacy, education and capacity building.

The award will be presented at the NIWE Ogun State Chapter Induction, Public Lecture and Awards Ceremony on 18 August 2026.

NIWE said the recognition reflects tSSI’s work in promoting a reading culture, developing young minds and equipping children and young people with knowledge, skills and values for responsible citizenship and sustainable development. The institution noted that sustainable development requires investment in education and the next generation of leaders, areas in which tSSI’s programmes align closely.

Founded to advance reading culture and human capacity development, tSSI runs reading competitions, camps, publications and other educational initiatives that reach young people across communities.

tSSI leadership described the award as encouragement to expand its work in literacy, education and youth development. The organisation dedicated the recognition to the children and young people whose curiosity continues to drive its efforts.

The ceremony is expected to draw professionals, government representatives, academics and development partners. It may also open discussions on possible collaboration between tSSI and NIWE on youth development, education and community sustainability.

The SixthSense Initiative is a human capacity development organisation based in Abeokuta, Ogun State, focused on literacy, education and the intellectual growth of children and youth.
