Two die, three hospitalize at Petroleum Truck explosion in Ilo Awela, Otta ,Ogun state

An inferno was reported yesterday at Ilo Awela area of Otta in Ogun state where a tanker laden with premium motor spirit had Mechanical problem, and the content spilled on the road.

The incident led to inferno which claimed two lives, many injured and several goods and properties worth millions of Naira were damaged.

The driver of the PMS tanker truck  trapped inside the truck and another male person later fond earlier this morning in one of the tricycles, the truck fell on  .The victim was burnt beyond recognition

The unfortunate incident, according to Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) involved 12 vehicles;  1 Tanker truck, 1 commercial yellow  LT Bus, 4 TVS Tricycle, 3 Motorcycle boxer, 3 commercial BRT luxurious bus.

Rescue operation was provided by TRACE operatives,Nigeria Police Force ,FRSC, NSCDC , Ogun State fire service, Lagos state fire service, LASEMA, NUPENG.

According to the eyewitnesses, the driver of the loaded PMS truck was coming from Lagos, heading to Ota as he approached the hill at the  Iloawela junction, where the incident occurred. The truck developed a mechanical fault,rolled back and fell on his side, spilling its content on the road which resulted to fire explosion in the process.

As at the time of filing this report, normally has returned to the area has necessary authorities were clearing the debris of the inferno.
