…contrary claims points at dishonesty as a public office holder
Ogun state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, have raised several questions with his inability to produce his National Youth Service Corp discharged Certificate 20 years after graduation,as New Nigeria People’s Party have called for his resignation from office.
We reported earlier that the commissioner submitted a sworn affidavit to the Ogun state House of Assembly during his screening in replacement of the NYSC discharged certificate.
In the affidavit dated 25th November, 2021 and obtained by INFOLITE NEWS, the commissioner for Justice claimed he served in Lagos state, but was asked to go to Abuja for his NYSC discharged certificate after passing out.
The year-long service, organised by the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), is compulsory for all Nigerians who graduate from universities or equivalent institutions at less than 30 years of age.
Mr Ogungbade in the affidavit mentioned that the NYSC did not present him a certificate, but was issued a letter “To Whom It May Concerned” to confirm his participation in the scheme.
However, in a dramatic twist to the earlier claims of the Attorney General that the “To Whom It May Concern” Letter was destroyed in a fire incident, a letter of attestation he claimed to have received with another Reference Letter in Year 2004 surfaced on the internet.
Responding to the development, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday, the Ogun State Chairman of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) who had earlier written to the House of Assembly to request for an update on the NYSC Discharged Certificate of the Ogun State Attorney General, said the attempt by the commissioner to exonerate himself from any wrong doing on the Certificate Saga is making it messier.
According to Comrade Oginni,” it was expressly and unambiguously put at the Last Paragraph of the Reference and Attestation Letters that these Letters cannot serve as Replacement for the National Youth Service Discharged Certificate.
Realizing that the retrieval of the Original NYSC Discharged Certificate from the NYSC Headquarters Abuja shouldn’t need a rocket science, the NEW NIGERIA PEOPLE’S PARTY, Ogun State Chapter on the Provision of FREEDOM OF INFORMATION Law approached the NYSC Headquarters Abuja to look into their records and as a matter of urgency present Mr.Oluwasina Ogungbade with his NYSC Discharged Certificate twenty years after graduation.”
He also added that,”Recognising the fact that he who comes to equity must come with clean hands, the immediate retrieval of the Original NYSC Discharged Certificate of the Attorney General shall clear all doubts about his status and keep the integrity of the Ogun State House of Assembly who cleared him without the Original NYSC Discharged Certificate in good shape in the face of Ogun State Citizenry”.
