…distinguished Egbas to be honored
The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, His Royal Majesty Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo Okukenu IV will host the year 2022 International Senior Citizens Day Celebration on Saturday 8th of October 2022 in Abeokuta.
Similarly,this year Jigi Alake Initiatives will also hold within the centenary hall by 8am on October 8th, which will feature Free Eye screening, Cataracts screening, Glaucoma screening and Surgery while reading glasses will be given free to those whose eyes requires it.
The information was contained in a release signed by the Director General, Egbaland Humanitarian and Development Council, Aare Jide Taiwo, the Bagbaje Egbaland.
He said there will be an Health Walk starting from oke-itoku police station by 8.30am same day, and it will terminate at the palace of Alake Of Egbaland.
Aare Taiwo informed that,” The walk is tagged “Walk and Age Gracefully” and we invite all interested participants both youths and elderly to join us in thier sports wear in walking with Alake of Egbaland and Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila Speaker Fedral house of Representatives who is the Chairman of the Occasion.”
He added that,” Some respected Senior Citizens of Egbaland will receive the honour of Senior Citizenship Certificate at the end of the walk . Such personalities include Chief Oluyinka Kufile (Aro of Egbaland) and Chief Layiwola Labode (Aare Baroyin of Egbaland) while the following distinguished individuals will also receive the EHDC Humanitarian Ambassador Awards respectively, Mrs. Ronke Shokefun and Chief Tunji Sunmonu.”
The annual international Senior Citizens Day Celebration/ Jigi Alake Initiatives is packaged by Egbaland Humanitarian and Development Council whose focus is to continuously preserve the elderly who are the custodians of culture and traditions in Egbaland.
