The governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun,Mfr. fixed 14th of August 2020 for the opening of worship centers in the state,with strict compliance with safety rules to control the spread of Covid-19.
The governor announced this few hours ago in Abeokuta while addressing news men, rolling out the progress made so far by his administration in the fight of the pandemic.
He said,”this administration will not listen to negative comments on our continuous lockdown of worship centers against the safety of lives of the people.Many are comparing the market place to the worship centers, forgetting that they aren’t the same in time spent and body contact.”
Prince Abiodun also added that,”our decision to allow worshipers to attend to their spiritual obligation is as a result of recommendations and consultations by our religion leaders.They gave us modalities for safe opening of their various worship centers and safety precautional measures.”
He said the greater percentage of worshipers are elderly people and their life must be jealously protected at this period.
However,the governor have mandated the wearing of facemask in the public,as offenders will risk a six month jail term.He said this will enable the public to know that this administration is not taking the public safety with glove hand.
