Commander’s Conference 2022: TRACE Trains Officers On Capacity Building, Strategic Master Plan for Present Day Enforcement

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) yesterday trained it’s  officers on capacity building and strategic master plan in the State.

The TRACE Corps Commander, Seni Ogunyemi announced that the training of officers is geared towards advancing their capability for effective service delivery.

The training was at the 7th Annual  Trace Corps Commander’s Conference with the theme “Capacity Building in Ogun State Strategic Transportation Master Plan: Role of Trace” held in Abeokuta, the state capital .

Commander Ogunyemi declared that the essence of the workshop was to generate ideas and fashion out ways on how best to rebrand and reposition the agency in order to be abreast of the challenges and dynamism of modern day traffic management and law enforcement.

He said, ” This has even become more pertinent with the progress  the transportation sector has witnessed under this administration, and the future Agro-Cargo Airport and Ogun Multi Modal plan, both encapsulated in the strategic transport master plan of Ogun State.

“That is why this year’s theme is designed towards building on past successes of a more robust, vibrant, intellectually sound and knowledge driven traffic management agency, which has the capacity and the capability to drive the new thinking of the transportation sector as its enforcement arm for more safer Ogun traffic corridors for the well being of the general public, particularly the motoring public and for education, trade and investment to thrive”.

The governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun represented by the deputy governor Alhaja Noimot Salako Oyedele while declaring the workshop open, commended the efforts of TRACE, and called for improvement on capacity of it’s staffs.

She explained that, “As the the Chairman of Ogun State Road Safety Advisory Council, am happy that Trace have put this together because this is one of the aims to make sure that all practitioners in the road safety space are continually train and retrain to make sure that we have sanity on our roads.”

Alhaja Oyedele added that ,”Officers must understand their role as law enforcement to be  able to work effectively .”

She added that the training will enable officers to manage all situation to reduce escalation of certain incidents, and make sure that they don’t  have unnecessary attack by the public, to any of their staff while carrying out their duties.

Alhaja Oyedele called on TRACE officers to be good ambassadors of the state, and develop excellent skills so as to manage situations with members of the public, and not damage the reputation of the agency.

“Prince Dapo Abiodun has put in a lot of work into improving road across the state. When you have good road it reduces traffic challenges especially at urban areas.” she affirmed.

Guest lecturer and Commissioner for Transportation in  Ogun State,  Engineer Gbenga Dairo said continuous training and enlightenment of the public is key on the part of TRACE agency.

In his speech, “CAPACITY BUILDING/OGUN STATE STRATEGIC TRANSPORTATION MASTER PLAN,ROLE OF TRACE, he explained that the Proposed transportation master Plan will delivered an accessible, safe ,affordable reliable and sustainable transportation system for Ogun state.

Eng Dairo said the TRACE officers should understand the causes of accident, monitor and evaluate some portions of the road from time to time.

He added that the officers should be guided by their rules of engagement, and protection of human rights while performing their duties.

The Commissioner also called on the public to support the agency for them to deliver effective service to our society.
