The Appeal Court sitting at Ibadan yesterday upheld the candidacy of Otunba Engr (Dr) Adewale Adenaike as the authentic Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for Ogun East Senatorial District.

Otunba Adenaike had earlier this year won at SDP Primary Elections with 28 votes to 17 votes against his opponent Mr  Adewale Shokoya, but the latter challenged the outcome  at the Federal High Court in Abeokuta.

While dismissing the petition by his opponent, a unanimous decision to uphold his candidacy was made by the judges:  Honourable Justice M.A.A Adumein, Honourable Justice Targata Nimpar and Honourable Justice F.A Ojo.

Otunba Adenaike, while reacting to the judgement in his favour appreciated God for validating his mandate. He reaffirmed that his mandate is divine and cannot be stopped by any man.

He said,”I believes that as long as God cannot be defeated, I will never be defeated because God has my back and this judgement is another testament.”

Otunba Adenaike also acknowledged the credibility of the Judiciary for upholding the rule of law in Nigeria. According to him, “our democracy will continue to flourish when the judiciary is totally independent of all externalities.”

In addition, he appreciated all the good people of Ogun East, all SDP party faithfuls, family and friends, the Adenaike Campaign Team and all his supporters for their unrelenting support and encouragement. “This victory is nothing without you” he said. He added that his confidence is renewed and that victory is assured come February 2023.

Otunba Adenaike also appealed to all SDP members to work together as we approach the general elections. “We have a task ahead of us and it is for us to win the elections, Nigerians are desperate for a credible alternative. Nigerians are tired of recycling the same people who have consistently raped them of their fundamental human rights only to drop crumbs under the table for them to pick on bended knees. Enough of this protracted deception, Nigerians are wiser” he concluded.

The grassroot politician and educationist reiterated that he’s ready to serve diligently and selflessly.

He urged all aggrieved persons to join hands with him and work together in the interest of the Party, present a united front and retire the old politicians who have no plan for the people.

Otunba Adenaike assured the good people of Ogun East that his candidacy will bring significant growth and development through his *YESSS* agenda (Youth, Education, Security, Skills Acquisition and Sports). He added that “Leadership is about the people” and his mandate will be people-minded.” He therefore urged the good people of Ogun East to  make the right choice and come out en masse to vote for him for a people-driven representation at the Senate.
